- Questions About Your Coverage
This page explains, in plain terms, the insurance and protection options available on a Peachtree Auto Rental. It's a summary for planning purposes — your signed Rental Agreement is the document that governs your specific rental, and coverage details, pricing, and deductibles are confirmed at pickup.
1. Overview
Every rental leaves our lot with liability protection that meets Georgia's minimum financial responsibility requirements. Beyond that baseline, you can choose to add protection through us, use your own personal auto policy, or rely on eligible credit card rental benefits — whichever makes the most sense for your trip.
2. Minimum Insurance Requirement
All Peachtree rentals include the state-mandated minimum liability coverage required to legally operate a vehicle in Georgia. This baseline coverage protects third parties in the event you're at fault in an accident, but it does not cover damage to the rental vehicle itself, medical costs, or your personal belongings. Most renters choose to add one or more of the protection options below.
3. Protection Options Offered at Pickup
Collision Damage Waiver
Reduces or eliminates your financial responsibility for damage to the rental vehicle from a covered collision, subject to the exclusions on this page.
Supplemental Liability Protection
Increases liability coverage above the state minimum, protecting you against third-party injury or property damage claims.
Personal Accident Insurance
Helps cover medical expenses for you and your passengers in the event of an accident during your rental period.
Personal Effects Coverage
Reimburses you for personal items stolen from the vehicle during your rental, up to the policy limit.
Rates, coverage limits, and exact terms for each option are presented at pickup and detailed in your Rental Agreement. Protection products can be added or adjusted at the counter — our team can walk you through what fits your trip.
4. Using Your Personal Auto Insurance
Many personal auto insurance policies extend coverage to rental vehicles used for personal purposes. If you plan to rely on your own policy instead of purchasing protection through us, we recommend calling your insurance provider before pickup to confirm:
- Whether rental vehicles are covered under your policy, and at what limits
- Whether your policy covers commercial use, such as rideshare or delivery driving
- Your deductible amount for collision and comprehensive claims
- Whether coverage extends to a rental in Georgia specifically, if you're visiting from out of state
You'll be asked to provide your insurance information at pickup if you intend to decline our protection options.
5. Using Credit Card Rental Coverage
Some credit cards offer secondary or primary rental coverage as a cardholder benefit when you pay for the rental in full with that card. Coverage varies widely by card issuer and is often secondary to your personal auto policy, meaning it may only cover costs your own insurance doesn't. Contact your card issuer directly before your rental to confirm whether coverage applies, and get any confirmation in writing if possible.
6. Insurance for Rideshare, Delivery & Travel Nurse Rentals
Most personal auto insurance policies exclude coverage while you're logged into a rideshare or delivery app and actively working. If you're renting to drive for Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Instacart, Spark, Amazon Flex, or a similar platform, your personal policy likely will not apply during active trips, and you should not assume it does.
Vehicles in our Rideshare Collection are eligible for the platform-required insurance category the rideshare or delivery company mandates. We'll walk you through what protection is appropriate for platform driving at pickup so there's no coverage gap between trips.
Travel Nurse rentals on 1–6 month terms follow the same protection options as standard rentals; because these are longer-term contracts, we recommend adding Collision Damage Waiver for the length of your assignment for peace of mind.
7. Deductibles & What You're Responsible For
If you decline all protection options and rely on your own insurance or credit card benefit, you are responsible for any deductible, gap in coverage, or claim your provider denies. If you purchase our Collision Damage Waiver, your financial responsibility for covered damage is reduced according to the terms and deductible presented at pickup — this is not the same as zero liability, and exclusions still apply (see Section 8).
8. What's Never Covered
Regardless of which protection option you choose, the following are generally excluded from coverage and remain your responsibility:
- Damage resulting from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Damage from prohibited vehicle use, as outlined in our Terms of Service (racing, towing, off-roading, unauthorized commercial use, etc.)
- Damage occurring while an unauthorized driver was operating the vehicle
- Interior damage from smoking, pets, or spills beyond normal wear
- Loss of use, towing, or administrative fees associated with a claim
- Tickets, tolls, and citations incurred during your rental
9. Filing a Claim / What To Do After an Accident
If you're involved in an accident or the vehicle is damaged or stolen during your rental:
- Make sure everyone is safe, and call 911 if there are injuries or the accident needs to be reported
- Do not admit fault at the scene
- Exchange information with any other parties involved and take photos of all vehicles and the surrounding scene
- Call Peachtree as soon as possible using the number below to report the incident
- If applicable, contact your personal insurer or card issuer to open a claim
10. Verifying Coverage Before Pickup
To avoid delays at pickup, we recommend confirming your coverage plan before you arrive: call your insurance provider or credit card issuer, or simply plan to add one of our protection options at the counter. Our team can review the choices with you in person so you leave with the coverage that fits your trip.
